Learn More About Kamloops
Kamloops is a mid-sized city in British Columbia with around 98,000 people, tucked between the North and South Thompson Rivers. It’s a super outdoorsy place, with hiking and biking trails everywhere, and the weather’s great if you like all four seasons. It is pretty central—Merritt, Logan Lake, Vernon and Kelowna are just a short drive away, which makes weekend getaways easy.
One of the biggest perks of living here is how much nature we’re surrounded by. Kenna Cartwright Park is massive, and it’s right in the city, so you can hit the trails after work or on a lazy Sunday morning. In the winter, Sun Peaks Resort is just up the road for skiing and snowboarding. There’s also the BC Wildlife Park if you’ve got kids or visitors—it’s a fun spot to learn about local animals.
We’ve also got Thompson Rivers University (TRU), which brings a nice energy to the city. Lots of students from all over the world come here, so there’s a bit of an international vibe in some parts of town.
As for neighborhoods, the main ones are Aberdeen, Sahali, Westsyde, Brocklehurst, and Downtown. Each has its own personality—Aberdeen and Sahali are more residential with shopping nearby, Westsyde and Brock are a bit quieter and great for families, and Downtown is where the arts, restaurants, and events happen.
